As a Health, Safety, and Environmental Specialist at Tessenderlo Kerley, you will help ensure that all company employees and supporting contractors go home unharmed every night. 

You will assist with ensuring that governmental and company HSE requirements are met at all times. 

You will be a member of the Corporate HSE Team, supporting 11 chemical manufacturing and processing sites in the USA.


What you will do:

  • Assist with HSE audits of process facilities to identify workplace hazards, ensure regulatory compliance, and identify effective corrective actions.
  • Support preparation and deployment of HSE procedures, training programs and corporate-wide HSE initiatives to reduce risk.
  • Assist with the preparation of environmental reports, permits and governmental chemical registration documents.
  • Assist with analysis of current and proposed government regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, DOT and other entities) to ensure compliance and possible implications to the business.
  • Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of HSE data to identify trends, determine root causes and develop strategies to address program improvement opportunities.
  • Support resolution of complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices.
  • Support employee engagement programs that support the development of a sustainable world-class HSE program.  

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a science-related discipline.
  • Two or more years of HSE-related work experience in a chemical manufacturing/processing environment, OR a Master’s degree in HSE, Engineering, or a science-related discipline and 0-1 years of industry experience.  
  • Knowledge of air permit regulatory processes, hazardous waste management requirements, and wastewater management programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and regulatory requirements leading to effective compliance strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with MS Teams and Office applications.
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator, climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30%.
