Today’s businesses face increasingly stringent environmental standards and requirements. Potentially toxic and highly soluble metals and chemicals have been used in a variety of industries such as mining, plating, wood treatment, power generation, water treatment and a host of other processes. Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. (TKI) has long recognized the need for efficient and cost effective remediation agents. Our chemical background and expertise, aligned with our research, development and production capabilities enable us to offer our customers a wide range of effective sulfur-based chemicals for metal, water and soil remediation.
Calmet ® (calcium polysulfide solution) is a lime-sulfur based solution suitable for use in various waste treatment systems as a metal precipitant. Calmet effectively precipitates highly soluble metals (arsenic, lead, copper, zinc, cadmium, molybdenum, uranium) as less soluble, non-toxic sulfides. Calmet is also used to conduct in-situ remediation of chromium, uranium, selenium and copper contamination.
Cal-Red™ (calcium polysulfide blend) is a calcium polysulfide based blend TKI formulated for site specific removal of heavy metals from wastewater streams. The higher sulfide concentration in Cal-Red improves the precipitation efficiency when significant volumes of chelator are in the wastewater.
Trimet™ (sodium trithiocarbonate solution) is designed to remove copper, mercury, lead and cadmium from aqueous solutions through the formation of metal sulfides. Trimet will also stabilize metals in sludge or ash, preventing heavy metal leaching in the environment. Trimet is safer to use in treatment processes and presents a much lower toxicity to aquatic life than many alternatives in use today.
Dimet™ (sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate solution) is a 40% aqueous solution of sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate. The product is effective over a wide pH range and when used as recommended, provides nearly complete precipitation of metals even in the presence of other chelating or sequestering agents.
