Tessenderlo Kerley

CROP PROTECTION

NovaSource™

Your Alternative Source of EPA-Registered Pesticides

Tessenderlo Kerley entered the crop protection business in 1999 with the acquisition of the Sectagon 42® brand of metam sodium, a fast-acting, contact biocide soil fumigant. As a pre-plant application, Sectagon 42 suppresses nematode population, fungi, tough annual weeds and soil-borne pathogens. This results in improved crop growth with greater yields and a more consistent crop. In 2006, Sectagon K54® brand of metam potassium, biocide fumigant was added to this product range. Sectagon K54 differs from Sectagon 42 in that it does not contain sodium, but potassium and was developed for crops which are sodium sensitive.

In 2006, Tessenderlo Kerley also launched its NovaSource™ business unit to expand its range of EPA-registered pesticides. Through acquisition and generic entry, NovaSource is developing a range of off-patent, EPA-regulated chemicals which will serve the agricultural, horticultural, turf, forestry, aquatic, structural pest control and biocide industries. NovaSource will source pesticide active ingredients from producing facilities globally and will consider internal production on a product by product basis. The company goal is to create value via formulation enhancements and unique supplementary offerings. NovaSource plans to distribute through existing distribution and will limit distribution on each product to maintain value in the market place for its marketing partners and distributor customers.

NovaSource initial offerings will be a fungicide product used primarily in vegetables, turf and ornamental crops. The company has created two improved formulations of this fungicide to better address the needs of the ultimate end user. This product will be followed by the introduction of an aquatic herbicide and then by a biocide water treatment product. The company plans to add two to three products to its range every year. Some of these will be acquired from multinational research-based companies and some will be developed internally and marketed as a generic alternative.

NovaSource experienced staff is well versed in the development, marketing and sales of off-patent, EPA-registered chemistries to a wide variety of industries. For additional product information, go to www.novasource.com.
