TKI Purchases Carbaryl Ag Business From Bayer 2012-01-31 Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. (TKI) announced today the purchase of the crop protection assets of the global carbaryl business from Bayer CropScience, which will retain the non-crop business.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Carbaryl is marketed under the Sevin® brand, as well as other associated trademarks in forty countries. TKI will acquire global crop protection assets including trade names, knowhow, registrations and registration data.
Jordan Burns, CEO of TKI, stated, “TKI is committed to expanding its crop protection portfolio. We intend to continue building our NovaSource® Crop Protection group with the addition of strategic products as they become available”.
Responsibility for the carbaryl product will be undertaken by TKI’s business unit, NovaSource (www.novasource.com). The NovaSource Group Vice President David Cassidy stated: “the acquisition of the carbaryl insecticide franchise is another step in the planned expansion of the company’s niche crop protection product portfolio following the acquisition of the terbacil and linuron businesses from DuPont, the Surround® business from BASF and the Purshade® business from Purfresh.”

TKI and Purfresh® Reach Agreement 2011-08-23 (Phoenix, Arizona, August 23, 2011)— Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. (TKI) and Purfresh Inc., Fremont California announced today that the two businesses have reached an agreement for TKI to acquire the global assets of the Purfresh crop protection sun screen business and the Purshade product line including the trademarks, formulation knowledge, registrations, pending patents, other intellectual property and customer lists. Purshade is approved for sale in over forty countries.
The Purshade business will be managed and marketed by TKI’s NovaSource® business unit and will be a complementary offering to the company’s Surround® Crop Protectant product line. NovaSource (www.novasource.com) is TKI’s business unit, charged with developing and marketing registered pesticides for niche crop protection and specialty markets.
Following closing of the acquisition, TKI will dismiss its complaint against Purfresh. The complaint, filed in the U.S. district court for the district of Delaware, asserted that Purfresh infringed certain TKI U.S. patents.
